Gardener in Wymondham
The abbey town and the estates along the A11. Larger plots than the city, and fences that take the south-westerly.
Wymondham sits close enough to Norwich that regular visits make sense. The older streets around the abbey have established gardens, brick, and hedges that have been clipped for years. Silfield and the newer estates along the A11 are a different brief: bigger lawns, open aspects, and panel fences that act like a sail when the wind comes across the fields.
Plots here are often more generous than in the city, which is good for a lawn and a liability for a hedge that only gets cut when it annoys the neighbour. Builders’ soil still shows on some of the newer gardens — thin turf over compacted ground, and a patio that was laid in a hurry. Those are repairable. They just need quoting as preparation, not as a cut and a bag of feed.
Spooner Row, Morley, Wicklewood and the lanes immediately around the town are on the same run. Hethersett, a few minutes back towards Norwich, is covered with the South Norfolk villages. If you are between the two, say so on the phone and we will put you on the day that already passes your road.

Services in Wymondham
The full list is available here. These are the local reasons people book each one, not a copied menu.
- Jet washingDrives on the newer estates, and patios that stay damp under a north-facing fence.
- Fence replacementThe common job. Open aspects mean panels age faster. We concrete the posts and price gravel boards if the beds are high.
- Fence & gate repairsGates onto alleys and side paths, often dropped after one post has moved in wet ground.
- Hedge trimmingLaurel and privet on the older roads, and the mixed hedges some estates used instead of a fence.
- Tree pruningYoung trees planted by developers, now hitting gutters, and older fruit trees in the town gardens.
- Lawn care & turf installationLarger lawns than Norwich terraces. We will say if the problem is compaction rather than a missing feed.
- Regular garden maintenanceA realistic regular round. Fortnightly in May and June keeps estate lawns from looking tired by the weekend.
- Garden design & makeoversMost makeovers here are ‘the lawn is a rectangle and the sitting space is in the wind’. Shelter and a better shape come first.
- Patios, paving & deckingSitting areas on the newer houses, built with a fall away from the doors. Decks only where the shade will not keep them green.
